Recover your lost photos with Photorec

A user tells us in his blog that you may experience some you have had: trying to connect your digital camera to your PC or laptop (or remove the memory card and insert it into a card reader) and see that for some reason seems that the images (all or part) have been lost.


This disaster can be caused by many reasons, the cards can be corrupted sectors, for example-but if you're given this situation there are ways to fix it, or at least, have any chance of it.

This is what we have a small application in command line mode. Is called Photorec, and is developed under GPL license. In Linux is part of a larger suite called TestDisk. Once installed, you just have to launch the command

sudo photorec
What will we see a menu-driven interface of text, which will allow us work with our memory card and try to recover lost or defective sectors, as well as information that it seemed we had removed.
